LastRites Me too! I had an 01' ZX3 and the damned thing kept going out (DPFE). So we had just dropped the car off to get it replaced and I spied the SVTF and said "I'll be taking that home"

To expand....

The VCT can accomplish the same intake charge dilution as the EGR. When it advances, it increases the overlap into the exhaust phase which causes exhaust to be sucked into the intake. This is a much better way to meet the NOx standard than piping dirty exhaust through all the tubes and valving of an EGR system.

Plus, when you put on the Tune, the cam timing is optimised for performance and no longer does the over advancing thing resulting in better running and mileage. The lack of EGR was a big reason I got the SVTF.

crazymechanic EPA requires that all cars have EITHER an EGR or some form of variable cam timing. we got the VCT, so no EGR. same thing on the 2005 mustangs, they got VCT, no EGR

03OrangeSVT The SVT does NOT have EGR, if you dont have it you can't delete it.

rfinger Will it really improve the performance that much? If so, would it do anything harmful to the engine?

EGR Delete

Is it possible to delete the EGR on the SVT? I know SCT does tunes that cut out the EGR on the regular Zetec but why not on the SVT? Plus where is the bung on the header for the EGR tube? Pics? Guy's that have jetcoated the header, do you still have the EGR? Is the EGR system just vacuum from the intake or a motorized system? What would be the main drawbacks "besides emmisions" to deleting the EGR. Plus, Hey Tom does the EGR system get deleted when your turbo system is put on the SVT? How much tuning with the Diablo Predator would I have to do to get rid of the EGR.
