Kodyston No Problem. I've heard if you put a lighter flywheel in your car it wont do it as much if at all. But, I'm not sure how true that is since I've never had an upgraded "lighter" flywheel before. lol

Rodriguez Oh ok, I always had a lingering feeling about that. I usually shift around 3k rpm and see them climb the extra bit and ever since the transmission diagnosis I became a little conscious of the rpms climbing. Thanks Kodyston.

That's normal when the clutch is disengaged.

Rodriguez We'll see, I'm dropping mine beggining next month. The odd thing is and I'm not sure if it happened on yours, when I shift the rpms still climb 100-200 more - not sure if normal on the car.

I'm doing the tranny tear with a friend and I really do hope it's that. We thought it was a wheel bearing and even took it apart, to find that it's coming from the transmission. Which I find odd, since it shifts fine.

02focusva Had a local shop do a rebuild on the tranny, ( new bearings, seals, etc). She runs and sounds great. There was not any wear on the gears or shafts. Hope this helps.

Rodriguez Did the bearing change solve your issue? I'm seeing the same issue, but mine comes with vibration.

02focusva Update: Tore the tranny a part everything looks good, but this thing has plastic cone bearings? Anyway you cant pre-load these or set crush on them ( which is what sets your backlash) so I am upgradeding them to metal.

cheap sleeper Use your local parts locator, check craigslist, and here on the forums! I just swapped mine with a used one I bought off of Mikeb on here! He happened to live here inmy town, and delivered it to me. You may find a great guy on this site that'll have one near you!

02focusva Anyone know a good source for a rebuilt tranny?
10-31-2013 08:13 AM
02focusva The noise is on decleration or costing while in gear. Diffently coming from the tranny. Gears could be backlashing on decelartion. Either way tranny has to come out again and guts rebuilt. Just think it may be easier to pick up a rebuilt one than tear mine open to find a bad gear or shaft in addtion to bearings and what not.

Thanks

Anyone got a line on a source for rebuilt trannys?

Anyone?
