Speshulldroo Turns out the solution was pretty weird. I originally had the high freq plug wired into the speaker wires just before the b-pillar. After a couple hours with a test light and wiring diagram, I wound up splicing into the rear speaker wires at the speaker plug inside the door panel and it worked. Same two wires, just after the b pillar plug. I'm not sure what the difference is, but it works now.

Speshulldroo I had the high freq plug wired into the speaker wired off the factory head unit for a while now. I'm thinking that because the old amp still received/sent a signal off the high freq plug after I took the LOC back out, it's gotta be the converter. Wiring a new one in over lunch break today, so I guess we'll find out...

Kipp any electronic component can be shorted and yes it's def possible to have a bad one out of the box. for the loc you'll need to connect to the speaker outputs from the headunit if you don't already. it's also possible that the new amp could be bad. you can take a multimeter and test the ac output from the rca's coming out of the loc to see if you're getting signal from there or not.

Shorted out LOC?

Hey guys. I'm wondering if it's possible to short out an LOC and/or is it common to get a bum one out of the box?

I'm currently attempting to upgrade amps. While I had my old amp wired into the high freq input plug through the factory hear unit, the new amp doesn't have such an input. I then bought a line output converter to make it work. However, upon wiring it in, both amps will power up but send no signal to any sub I try (3 so far). If I wire the original one back in with the high freq plug, it works perfectly. Any ideas?
