|crazy_urn||most good locksmiths can replace the cylinder quickly, and a lot cheaper then the dealership would charge. IIRC it cost me a bit more than a hundred bucks, including drilling out the old cylinder. (that was not an an SVT, but I cannot image it would be much different)|

drilling out the ignition is a pain in the arse!
i wish i replaced mine before i had to drill it, would have made life MUCH easier

You can spray some graphite spray in there as well. there is also a way to drill out the tumblers if all else fails. I suggest doing the replacement yourself as it cost around $450 for the dealer to do versus cost of parts and 15 mins to do it yourself.

|bbcobra||yep, when it goes out it goes out. mine would work by tapping on the end of the key. I got by like this for about a week.|

|TerryB||For now, you can try hitting the end of the key. Tap it lightly with a hammer. It might help for now.|

|bbcobra||get a replacement cylinder kit from ford. you can set it up yourself with your key, they come with instructions. I had to do mine as soon as I bought it.|

|Nevin W||Sounds like your ignition cylinder has gone out. The Focus is infamous for this. I would post a link to it but I'm on my phone and it is hard to navigate the site.|
