The new one is pretty fancy actually. Nice little BMW-style joystick for controlling the fancy entertainment screen. Admittedly, the overall styling is a very subjective thing.. some will love it, others will hate it.

But i have to agree with saireah, first model year car is always a bit iffy. But I'm not sure I'd discount it entirely based on that.. although I might be more likely to consider an extended warranty on it.

Just double check the maintenance schedule on that. My last mazda3 was awful in terms of maintenance.

Incentives aside, The new Mazda seems to be offering much more for the $$$ while netting better MPG and similar performance.

Sell me on the Ford.

imccrea I haven't seen anything on the new 3 besides engine and EPA specs. Looks like similar packaging to a focus. The real question is why do you think it's a better deal than the Focus?

CriticalMass If you are looking for the absolute best deal, now is not the time. Ford's just had the best month in sales since 2007.

imccrea I think we should clarify the difference between a discount and a rebate.

Rebates come from Ford, and run typically on a month to month basis. They are also zip code restricted here in the US.

Discounts come from the dealer, how much they take off the MSRP of the vehicle.

You can get a discount on a 2014 similar to a 2013 but the rebate comes from Ford and cannot get the same rebate on a 14 as a 13.

Ah, so the $3500 would be close to the equivalent. Well, go talk to a few dealers and see what they can offer you. I got the discounts from 2013 applied to my 2014 model. Hell, ford.ca doesn't even list the 2014 Focus yet.

I spoke to 6 dealers before I got the price I wanted.

Nope, not eligible for those.

Ford.com doesnt seem to advertise it, but my salesguy called it the "Employee Pricing Discount" (note I'm in Canada, we pay a lot more than you but generally the sales are the same)
