Mile30 WD40 is a trade-secret for white walls. The "wet look" only serves to sling shit on a clean car as soon as you move, anyway.

Any shine is decent, and you'll get a good look if you just wipe the excess off after application: act like you been there before...

bnoon The only non-tire specific product I've ever used on tires is baby oil and ONLY for car shows. You will need to be ready for "sling" afterwards though so be ready with a rag. For the daily driver, I keep a bottle of Black Magic Tire Wet in the car and apply only when the vehicle will be parked long enough for it to set to avoid sling (usually overnight). I wash my car 2-3 times a week and apply the BMTW about every other time or so.

gatmog Petroleum based products will eat at rubber. Suggest keeping that WD40 far away from your tires, belts, your car in general.

WD40 makes a good water displacer--but thats all I use it for..

my_beautious_ZX3 I knew a guy who worked for a synthetics company who said that the various retail protectants might make vinyl/plastic/rubber/silicone look nice, but they provide no long term protection. Dry-rotting occurs when volatile compounds embedded deep in the material outgas, and substances applied to the surface don't penetrate far enough to replace what was lost. The outgassing is a more or less continuous 24-7 process, and some occasional squirts of protectant can't offset that.

Mile30 If you just slather on anything, it could be bad to have all that excess. Not to mention slinging it everywhere once you move!

I try to just wash new tires until that doesn't "do it" anymore; and if the color of the tires starts to get patchy I'll use a shine product, bu wipe the tire down with an old shop rag. You end up with a more uniform look...

And if you're driving the hell outta your car; the tires won't have so much time as to dry-rot or become damaged from a shine product.

I use this on my trim. Works great and you can use it on tires as well.

rambleon84 Anyone use 303 Aerospace protectant? Ive heard good things about it but im not sure how available it is in stores, only seen it online. I might try it out for my tires and windshield cowl.

reads like a promo advert but still has me intrigued, i want a clean look not a so shiny it looks greasy look.

That's what I use. The dry rot on my Kumho's occurred everywhere BUT the outer-sidewall where I used this product.

soundFocus I prefer Stoner's More Shine. Never had issues with it damaging tires. One downside is I feel like they've cut back on the amount they put in a can, but that could just be me. Doesn't attract dust either and you just spray it on.
