I want to add that I bought my new tire from Suburban Ford of Sterling Heights here in Michigan. Belle Tire and Discount Tire were not able to get my tire until two days later, and Ford beat their prices by $1. But, my favorite part was that the Ford service tech put the jack and multi tool back neatly in the spare tire compartment for me. Them taking the extra step really made my morning.

Fix a flat (or any fix leak with a can) is good for only ONE thing ... if you have a small hole in the thread area...

THAT'S IT!!!

Now if you have a spare you can easily get out of these situations:
  • Hole in the sidewall
  • Big hole in the thread
  • Damaged alloys/steel rim due to hit (curb or pothole)
  • Tire blowout
  • Lack of AAA or remote area (in the sticks) with no cell coverage.

If you stay in the populated area chance you can survive without a spare but it will take time (waiting towing, or call tire replacement on road $$$) before you get back to the road...

I'm always in remote places so having a spare tire is a MUST!

To be honest, I had no idea whether or not I had a spare in the trunk. I was glad to find a spare instead of fix a flat or nothing at all.
