WesleySands Busy past couple of days. I discovered my flex pipe is disintegrating, the PVC pipe or another vac pipe, or the intake manifold itself is leaking and causing a p0171 code, so I've got to rip the IM off...again (I blew smoke from a cigar into a vac hose, and it started pouring out somewhere underneath the IM). I'm also getting hounded by the local constabulary to get a safety inspection done...

I also visited a junk yard, picked up: a door handle reinforcement piece for the passenger side, (eldest daughter broke it) a hood release cable (mine snapped 4 days ago) a new grille, (got run over after an accident back in September) a new antenna (previous owner broke it) and scored fog lights, bezels and switch, off a junked 05-07 Focus.

As 'punishment' my eldest daughter turned wrenches with me for about 3 hours putting everything on: not really punishment as such, seeing as she enjoys doing this almost as much as I do. I still need to do the fogs, and the *ahem* mods for the fogs and hi beams. I still need to order the PCV hose and flex pipe.

Oh, and I killed the door ajar dinger. That sounds rivals VWs La Cucaracha as the most annoying, vile door chime.

Brakes, Suspension & Chassis section has details on the swap, not a direct conversion with calipers/rotors only. SVT knuckles or '05 ones with a ball joint change to match them are needed to bolt on later type brakes. MkI brakes have the pad holders/caliper bracket built into the knuckle.

Knuckles from later than '05 require later struts as well, or adapters to fit the early struts (Omni kit).

Liam_The_Ghost Got my front brake pads done and gave all 4 rims a much needed scrub. They were off balance with all the dirt and dust build up. All I have left to fix (for now, I'm not holding my breath) is the front control arm bushings.

pcordes1979 This wasn't done "today" but on Saturday afternoon.

Finally did the front brakes on the car to follow up the rear disc conversion a couple weeks ago. Centric rotors, Akebono pads, stainless steel hoses to match the parts used in the rear disc conversion and also MK2 calipers which are lighter than the MK1.5 front calipers and the pads are a little bigger so hopefully will help with braking a little and have no external spring like the MK1/MK1.5/MK3 calipers have. And before you ask, no, SVT fronts are not an option unless you are going to be buying me a set of 16"+ rims and tires and a set of 16"+ winter tires and rims. Also despite having 71K miles on the front brakes the pads look like they could have lasted another 5-10K miles but sort of had to do it now as the passenger rotor seemed warped as was getting vibrations through the pedal when braking.

Previously did a write-up of the MK1.5 and MK2 front caliper differences here: http://www.focusfanatics.com/forum/b...-vehicles.html specifically post #12
