|Seminoles||See the white crusty looking stuff on rubber o-ring that is what I cleaned off with a wet rag then with WD-40 and then used a clean rag with WD-40 on rag to lightly lube o-ring and haven't had any further problems over 90,000 miles now|

Another owner here with low coolant level at 24k. My cap has a a bit of clear-ish orange fluid on it but not very much at all. The design of my cap also appears to be different than the OP's.

Take it to them & point out what you found.
Let them investigate & repair.
Yes, just putting a hose camp on & calling it done seems like the easy fix. Devil's advocate says - "what if it got tweaked at some point & the outlet to that bottle is cracked? Take it to them untouched & you get it taken care of free.
That exact thing happened to me with a washer bottle many years ago, it was much nicer not to pay for the replacement.

Well, I've been watching our MK3's coolant slowly disappear since the start of September, and now I actually can smell coolant outside the car when it is warmed up. Car has 13,600 miles.
Did some hunting today and found the lower expansion tank hose has dried coolant goo on the underside of it, so it appears to have been leaking. Debating on taking it to my dealer (which sucks) or just putting a better hose clamp on it and calling it good. I just don't want that hose clamp to upset them if I ever have to make a warranty claim.
Thoughts? I'm 90% sure if I take it to these guys they'll return it to me cleaned up and say they couldn't find the leak.
