rcdougie Thanks for all the input. Maybe im just overreacting a bit. Car runs awesome and im averaging 36 mpg so I need to be happy with that.

Sounds like a good guess, the cleaner the aerodynamic "break" at the tail of the car - the better the Cd (coefficient of drag).

Downside you've found, more crud that finds it's way into the 'burble" gets deposited on the tail since there are fewer random air currents to blow it away.

Unless there's a cloud of smoke following you, sounds like the "White Car Blues" of all the dirt showing - Just like my "Black Car" version where every spec shows up.

I never understood why some folks say that white doesn't show the dirt as much. I can believe the right shade of tan, but white??? (grin)

Elizabeth For some aerodynamic reason the dirt collects on the rear of the car.
So you must drive over roads with oil or something like that on them. Clean the car back with a product which removes that stuff.
No other problem. It just is part of owning the car.

Black Residue on Back of 2012 SEL HB

Hello all,
I purchased a CPO 12 Focus SEL HB about a month ago. A few day after I wash the car it has a black residue over the back of the car. Anyone else seem to have this problem? Shoud I be concerned?
