TheJackDaniels Not. But thats not why I did it. I wanted the lifetime filter. The extra 1-2hp was a bonus. Which I think justfies doing it regardless of power gains. I can save the money im not buying air filters with and buy something else.

RonMaiden But is it quicker than my Focus with just filter and snorkel delete?? I doubt it but I know it's probably more of an age thing since I rarely see the car savvy crowd over 25 doing this.

TheJackDaniels There is a measured gain with doing a drop in and snorkel delete. Personally for me, throttle response is much better. The motor doesnt bog as easily now.

RonMaiden Is there a performance gain along with the sound? Does having the lid off make more horspower than just having a filter and snorkel delete? Steeda intake doesn't sound like the stock box with the lid off. That intake sound is more obnoxious than actually screaming perfromance. Open air boxes sound amatuerish IMO.

TheJackDaniels So even if it sounds good, if the car is "slow", its rice?

RonMaiden It is ricey when it's coming from a slow car, that noise was so common back in the day with the Honda crowd doing intake mods and thinking that sound equated horespower.

longboarder81 I liked the way mine sounded, gave it a respectable rumble...

spiikey1 it does NOT sound ricey... i dno where you got that from, if anything it gives it more of a raspy sound. But everyone is entitled to their own opinion

Lost216 If you do a drop in you have to remove the stock snorkel/silencer to get a performance increase.

Nobody questions whether they introduce more particulates. It should go without saying that more flow equals less filtration, along with the inverse being true as well. The question should really be about whether the increased risk is worth it to the user and whether the increased risk is detrimental to the overall longevity of the 2.0 Ti-VCT in an actual manner that can be calculated and pin-pointed to the air filtration element.

Edit: After looking at this on the computer I realize that this thread is in the Performance section...
