TheGlassMaker Well you can't have the 1.6 it wasn't avaliable here. So you most likly have either the 2.0 zetec dohc or the 2.0 SPI sohc.

Mylittleredfocus 1valve dual overhead cam 16 valve 2.0 or 1.6 engine ?I will check tonight but the problem seems to be intermittent

Milton So you have an intermittent fuel issue? The fuel pump relay can be a source of intermittent failures. Just replaced mine for $7.

Good luck

whynotthinkwhynot Right- what engine is in your car? I would think that since it is running on starting fluid, the problem is likely to be fuel. Have you done the generic fuel pump test? Key off, turn key on and listen. You should hear a fuel pump buzz for about 3 seconds. If you don't hear the fuel pump, then that's one sign of a bad pump or something else bad.

Let us know if you can do this simple test. BTW, this test can be done on any EFI car. So you might want to get in another car that is running and listen for it's pump.

It happened again !!!!

I posted a few days ago a no start on 2001 Focus SE.Everbody who responded and agreed that maybe my Positive cable was bad.I fixed that problem and moved on. Tonight it wouldn't start again. It started ran ruogh and died.So squirted some starting fluid ito the intake. She started and ran 3 seconds. I started the car this 4 times before she kept running,I am know thinking fuel problems. How do I check the fuel pressure and with what tool. I have a scan tool for use on the car. What other ideas and checks can I make for fuel delivery and fuel pressure.what tools will I need and is there a link to a site to see how to do this. Thanks !!!!!!
