Since there is very little to no vacuum on acceleration, the noise is not a vacuum leak.

Your fuel pump sounds like it could be a little louder than it should be, however you can faintly feel/hear it. I would keep an eye on it anyway. Some pumps get pretty loud when they're about to fail.

Mikehinkle I hear it come on, but I can also lightly feel it in the seat when it turns on. I do not think the fuel pump is the source of my noise. It's coming from the passenger side of the engine bay and only during accel. Considering the vacuum leak. I'm sure these cars have pcv systems? If so does it have a saip? I know the saip cuts off after warm up but the noise seems to cease when the car is at normal operating tempeture. I don't know, could be a lot of things.

FocusRus Well, you should hear it cycle......you know, you might be right. That my be the source of the sound you're hearing.

Mikehinkle Should I hear the fuel pump decently loud when I turn the key to on?
03-27-2013 07:24 PM
FocusRus In that case ( I only hear it when I accelerate ), make sure the airbox and all hoses to it are tight.

Mikehinkle Going to have the compression checked eventually. Anyone have a vacuum line diagram? I will go through and check all the lines. I only hear it when I accelerate tho not when it's idling. I need to get a manual on the car.

Also, what should I typically be looking for that usually goes out or needs replaced around 160k?
