Snyper This is the current HU that I'm looking at getting:

However, that can change as I'm not ready to purchase yet. I'll be going with the maestro unit as well - you talked it up pretty well and it's fairly priced in comparison to the other two options from crutchfield.

I Bleed Ford Blue So are you gonna try the maestro unit? What HU are looking at getting to go with it?

BTW thank you for the rep point.

Snyper Awesome. Thanks for all the information, greatly appreciated!

EDIT: It looks like if I buy the H/U from Crutchfield, they include the dash kit as well. Which is Awesome!

Snyper And that is all I need in terms of harnesses to keep all my factory buttons working properly?

I paid 179 for mine thru crutchfield and did the install myself. If you buy it with a HU from crutchfield the usually give it to you for half price.

here is link and they are doing the 50% off with HU purchase.

Depending on your budget you could look into the idatalink maestro sync interface. It is the best available solution out there to keep sync and your steering wheel controls. It also allows you to change functions on your SWC and add a secondary function to each button. the newer 2013 models have the ability to add sat radio to the system also by using the 2013 model kenwood HU's. You can get it thru crutchfield you just have to dig around to find it. I tried the PAC setup on my fusion and its a piece of crap, it barely works and the PAC costs more than the idatalink setup.

Here check it out. Go thru and put in your car and choose the radio and it will tell you what parts are needed. The maestro RR (radio replacement) is the one you need, and the MK2 focus is the only ones it works on.

Snyper I'll look into a line driver, or a better H/U. I'm still far off from purchasing, so that's why that H/U was a 'thought' and not the one I definitely am buying.

I'm curious as to what specific harnesses I will also need to make all the factory features work with the upgrade. It says it has "Built-in steering wheel control settings will connect directly to your vehicle" - Is this true or will I need a specific harness? I feel like I'll be needing at least one, if not more, harness to enable all factory features to work with this H/U. I have sync, but this H/U has two USB ports, so I'll be using those rather than the factory one. It's going to go out to an amplifier, if that makes any difference in terms of what harness(es) I will need. The important things are the buttons on the wheel - I love those and would really enjoy to keep them all working.
Invest in a line driver. That thing only has 2 volts of pre-out at best(I am thinking maybe 1.5v). You will get the best out of your amp(s?) that way.
