I've read about a solution (Reprogram the power steering control module (PSCM) to the latest calibration using IDS release 72.04 and higher or 73.01 and higher. This new calibration is not included in the VCM 2011.5 DVD). Anyone know if it works? I'm not looking forward to shovelling two mortgage payments into this thing.
Can you please let me know your mileage? I want to see how I can best assist.

coldbear My 14 SE has been a blessing to drive. I've driven people that own high end German cars, can't believe how it feels and drives. Sorry for your unfortunate problem with the electric power steering but that's a fluke. This is my fourth Focus and I will buy another one when used up. I'm thinking seriously of Turbo, to take my German owned friends another giggle ride. jmo.

This is not a NHTSA bulletin, investigation, or recall, it's simply acknowledging the TSB that Ford supplied NHTSA. NHTSA site only provides a quick summary of the TSB as follows:

FORD: THERE MAY BE STEERING ASSIST WARNING LIGHTS AS WELL AS WELL AS A STORED TROUBLE CODE. 2012 FOCUS. *RM

So Kent253 is right - not worth much of anything.

Looking for the silver lining somewhere.

I bought the car from a carmax dealer in Roseville ca. But I was told by a mechanic friend to contact the dealer in regards to this, because the modules and things like that are highly specialized. It's very hard to trust the car right now, especially since I almost lost control on the freeway.

I'm hoping the dealer will reply to my inquiry soon.
Once your dealer calls back & you have an appointment, please send me a private message with the following: VIN, updated mileage, best daytime phone number, full name, and dealer name/location (as well as appointment date.)
