Iíve played with and have quite a bit of Kydex for making gun holsters. I think I am going to make myself a phone holster and mount it to the driverís side of the center console down by my knee.
I donít need it for interaction, this is part of why I donít really want a mount that puts it on the dash, window or controls.
I just need a place to set it, other than IN the console or my cup holder. I just want it out of my pocket and if I put it in the console, Iíll forget it.

of course for the user, this leaves a lot to be desired.

|pyzik||Sucks. I don't like any of these. It's really quite sill Ford didn't think putting ANY kind of phone holder in the MK3 was important at all.|

|Luki13||I have a CD slot one from Mountek. It's from my Audi. The CD slot was flush on that car whereas this one is "stepped" on an angle so it doesn't seem to want to grab tight.|

After trying dash suction cups, vent mounts, and windshield mounts that did not meet what I was looking for I decided to make my own. I tend to drive a little on the fast side and like to have some fun in the turns so the vent mounts and dashboard suction mounts both moved around too much or came off. I hated the dirt rings windshield mounts left and how ugly they looked from the outside.
I made my Phone mount out of GoPro mount pieces. I have collected many extra pieces from owning different GoPros over the past 5 years. The only piece I needed to get was something to mount my phone to. I ordered this http://amzn.com/B00W6GHMWU It fits my iPhone 6 with a Life Proof case like a glove and is adjustable to fit many other phone sizes.
Here is picture of my setup
I pretty much always have it mounted, but with the GoPro quick clips I can remove it if I wanted to
Here is from a driver's view. It is in the perfect location so that I can see the navigation without taking my eyes off the road. It only covers a sliver of the SYNC screen from where I sit. I can still read all the text on the SNYC screen.

I have a magnetic holder fits nicely in the CD slot.
- Got it for about $7 on eBay
- iPhone 6 has never slipped off, even on bumpy roads
- My phone has a case and I affixed the magnetic decal to the interior of the case and it still works
- CDs will still play with the holder in place
- An added bonus is that I can take my toll tag from the center console and dump it onto that little display shelf without the tag sliding off
Highly recommended (especially for $7).
