koke'sfocus I bought some piping from spectre and made a cai I didn't had fog light so I got the driver side fog light bezel and all the air would pass directly to the cai

it works great and sound good, the only thing I want to do is some kind of metal plate/sheet between the filter and the maf to keep the air cool.

ez_sleazy Cool cool, thanks man. Guess I'll just start with the short ram and maybe buy a tube at a time until I'm happy with it. I couldn't agree more with you on the budget though! Why pay extra when it does the same thing. I'll take pics and post it once I'm done in a few weeks.

Duhamel Honestly, I'm 300 miles from my Focus and am on a work trip and am driving a rental. I can snap a pic of mine and show you how I routed my zip ties. However, I went the SRI route, I didn't make the down tube. Too many puddles around, especially during the spring thaw, so to be safe I stuck with the SRI.

My reason for going the "homemade" route was pretty freakin easy. The Steeda SRI would've cost me over $300, but my homemade one cost me less than $40 :)

Word. You bring a valid point, I don't want to show mine either I suppose since I still haven't fixed it from a fender bender and don't plan on it... do you mind posting pics of where you zip tied it? I'm trying to get this mass airflow tube from a 96 taurus sometime next week... hoping for the best and that it fits. Needless to say I can't stop popping the hood and thinking about where it might go and how I'd think about running a CAI. Only thing I can't figure out is how to mount it. I'm kinda thinking about it come out like this one http://www.focusfanatics.com/forum/showthread.php?t=200566 but I can't see how he mounts the darn thing!!! Or (not to discredit you) where and how yours finishes, does it just go straight down?? All help would be greatly appreciated! Just so antsy and can't wait to get these parts in! I'll try and do a write up of the whole thing.

ez_sleazy Did you ever end up taking the zip ties off? Does anybody have experience in how to properly mount one of these things? I'm not trying to use zip ties if I don't have too...

The tubes are exactly the same as a stock 2009 foci's - 3".

Here's the link to mine. Only difference is I hacked apart the existing tube, but it looks exactly the same as the one from the Lincoln LS that Bigmoney used.

BowerR64 I made one also, its kinda scary doing a mod like this with the only MAF housing you have. If you dont get it right you cant drive it for a while.

IMO as long as you use the stock MAF housing your golden.

I used a 2.5" tube off e-bay, 3"-2.5 coupler from the TB to the 2.5" tube. Cut the stock MAF housing down to its smaller section which connects to the 2.5" tube with just a 2.5-2.5" coupler. Then the spectra filter is 4" with a few spacer got it to fit on the other end of the MAF housing.
