Humphrey Well the SRI made by the popular focus aftermarket part suppliers does look 100x better. Only problem I have right now is that the filter isn't held securely and can wiggle around.

sailor ^^^Very nice, didn't know those details for your model year on the MAF tube.

Seen it done/posted so many times before for the slightly older versions with a 2.3 - and/or the PZEV type - that I automatically think of their straight MAF tube.

Like it, the "stealth" SRI done on the cheap - why pay $200 for one?

It is at the strange angle because the tub has a bend in it.

Here is a un-modified tube:

In the above picture, assuming it was mine, the left side has those small protrusions which I cut off and that's where the filter goes. The right side of the tube was cut off right at the rim where that metal bracket is and that inch or more of tube is what's pressed tightly into the stock elbow.

Yeah I know about this one. The boys here on the forum had a chuckle and threw barbs at mine as well which is strikingly familiar to yours. I also used one of the adapter tubes to get the airflow dialed in properly. I was told by the learned ones here that it would only be a matter of time until untold horrors crept up to destroy me (well, at least the car) for my redneck engineering. Well, lessee now, that was about two years ago, maybe a bit more. In that time I have battled cancer, nursed one daughter through addiction and the other daughter through an ugly divorce. The car, since my SRI mod (of sorts), is now in it's third Canadian winter and not once has the CEL come on for any reason whatsoever. We just eclipsed 255,000kms on the car and the only mod that I have made to my SRI since I installed it was to add an outerwear cover to it for a bit more fine dust/dirt control.

Cheers!

Mike

sailor That's actually a common modification, usually accomplished by reversing the MAF tube so less modification and no extra parts are required to make it fit.

IDK how he has it arranged to seal going in at that angle, just can't see it in the picture. That's the one part that makes it look odd.

If thats how you want to leave it, and you like it like that, then who am I to judge?
