The cars with the Ti handling package actually have steering radius limiters that prevent the car from turning the wheels quite as far. This is intended to prevent rubbing under all conditions, however as a consequence of this they actually have a wider turning radius than the normal Foci that came equipped from the factory with 15-17" wheels.

People have put the 18" wheels on their cars without the limiters and have yet to find an issue, but then again they aren't simulating all the abuse that Ford did when they tested these cars in development.

naw he just needs to chime in to justify the beating he took on buying a fully loaded car that he didn't research and took a beating on.

This is one of the 3 reasons I didn't buy a Ti.

Just my personal preference.
Good preference. Of course, a Goodyear store is not an "independent mechanic". That would be Pepito's Auto Repair on Ditmas.

I curbed my 18-inch wheel with 89 miles on the odo of mine, in a parking garage (one of those spirally ramps, no curb all the way except last 10 feet, suddenly, there it was). 100 bucks to repair, but they did a fantastic job, it looks as good as ever.

I might add that in the meantime, I found a new one for 200, bought it, and now I have a full spare to "rotate" in, hopefully getting about 25,000 mi. from those Michelins instead of 20,000 as rated.
