Since the motor with rod knock has no windows in it, I am keeping it, and building that over time. So should I ever need another motor, I'll have something much stronger. Keyed crank, forged pistons and rod, upgraded valves and springs, but I will keep the stock cams.
Sounds like a plan. I hope they get the car back up soon.

wv rider After the second, I think I would look at building an engine and be done with it. So, whats the story?
Miztaken1312 I didn't do a thing, I swear. I dropped it off at our trusted family mechanic (he's my grandfather's best friend's son). He's fixed many a car for us and does top-notch work (and discounts us on labor).

Went in to fix an oil leak I thought was my rear main, turns out it was the oil pan. Wasn't sealed properly with RTV when it was removed prior to me purchasing it. He dropped my pan, resealed it, and on the test drive later that day, he felt and heard rod knock from the bottom end. I trust his diagnosis, he's done this for over 30+ years. Cheaper to get a new motor then to machine this one. $600 vs $2,500 is a no brainer.

So I have a new motor with 16k coming hopefully today or tomorrow. (And there's another story about that too).

What happened? This is looking like a bad habit you've started here.

I don't have a winter beater, I DD all my cars... My father has been kind enough to loan me his 2011 Ford Ranger for the time being. I just keep telling myself it's a RWD Focus...
