bringler26 Find a wire diagram for the two years and check to see if everything plugs into the same circuit. The older cars changed pin locations to a degree over the years from my understating. This could be the same

Igordoa62 Thank you bringler, but that will not be an option now, I left the old seats with the guy who sold me the new ones :-P
I guess the dealer is my only choice now :-(

take the sensors and wiring off the '12 seats and swap to the '14 seats.

Seat swap with airbag lit on

Hi guys, looking for info on this topic I found this and a few more threads, but none with my case: I swapped my 2012 SE Focus seats for a set of 14 titanium leather ones. Plugs seemed to coincide, both cars have side air bags, even electric controls worked fine and everything went smooth, except the darn airbag light is on. Any ideas what I should do to fix it?, unplug the battery has come up but doesn't seem to be very reliable, taking the car to the dealer is the last i would like to do, they will come with some parts and labor for a few thousand if you know what I mean? Thank you guys.

And yeah, your SES didn't have side airbags as stated above so that wouldn't work, plus I have nothing to swap because the Corbeaus aren't going to be wired for anything. Thanks though! :)

As for the first two replies, I will take all of that into consideration. My understanding of the cheater plugs is that will still allow the remaining front airbags and pretensioners to function properly because the system "thinks" the side airbags are still intact. So if they were to "blow", the cheater blows instead.

As for using non-ST '05 module, the problem I see there is that the "new" module still has to be programmed to the car and the Ford Dealer isn't going to program it to my car with the airbags removed. I wouldn't think so anyways. Otherwise I think that's probably the best option I have heard so far. Expensive, but best option. Anyone have any expereince going with this method?

Things like this were a lot simpler in my tRacer LTS. I put MX3 seats in it with no issues and it was the single greatest upgrade I did to that car.

Focusblackzx5 I did it... 2002 SVT seats in my 2005 zx5 SES. I swaped the pigtail of the 2005 seats to the 2002 ones. Swaped the belt lock and sluts and swaped the gel pad from the passenger seat of the 2005 in the 2002 seat. No airbag light, (ABS-Traction) control works and everything is fine

note : I don't have standart side airbags so I don't know if it's gonna work well.

Took 3 hours with a friend who works in a Ford dealer. (taking the seats out of the car + work with the wire plugs swap + airbag gel sensor swap + put it back in the Foci)

Best upgrade I did to my car

Buickboy I believe you can swap the gel pad over and use an airbag module from a car that didnt have side airbags from 05 (S SE and SES sedans didnt come with them unless added as an option with ABS). Otherwise Ive read a bunch about buying the cheater plugs for an explorer and cracking them open to wire in a resistor (~2 OHM seems to work for the 05-09 mustang guys)

mainest I can only tell you what I have learned from my own experience. I installed '03 SVT seats into my '05 ST. I learned that if the air bag light is on, none of the SRS works. No air bags, no pre-tensioners. If your '05 ST came with side air bags, (I believe they all did) the SRS module, beneath the center console, must sense '05 side airbags before it will activate the SRS. There is also a seat position sensor on the driver side seat track which is esential to the operation of the SRS. I did, in fact, put the '05 passenger seat pressure sensor into the '03 SVT passenger seat, swapped the '05 side air bags into the '03 SVT front seats, and put the seat position sensor from the '05 onto the SVT driver seat track. It was a lot of aggravation, and took many weeks to figure out the wiring for both the '05 and the'03 SRSs.
RoosterST here on FF, posted a wiring diagram for the '05 SRS. If you can't find it, let me know and I'll get you a link to it. Finally, as you may already know, the SRS (air bag) light can not be read, or reset by just any OBD II scanner. Ford dealers have the necessary software, but because of liability and federal safety regs, are very reluctant to do much with the SRS. There are some independent shops who have the special software, and may be amenable to reading your codes, and clearing them once the issues are fixed. I did look into the simulators which, I'm sure you know, are sold for "off road use only". I found several places from which to order them, but chose not to risk being injured, or liable for injuries to a passenger on account of not having the SRS. Good luck.
