Just learned the bad news. After talking to the dealer more it turns out the provisions of the warranty that comes with it are really strict. We HAVE to take it to a German mechanic every time we need a repair, we have to get inspected MONTHLY by said German mechanic, we cannot modify the car whatsoever, viloating any of this voids the warranty. My wife wants to pull the plug, but I might try to find a way around it. Any ideas?
You see I work for the same dealer (there is only ONE company that operates on US military bases) and what your telling me doesn't compute. Now this is coming from a guy who works for the same company your buying from. I started working in Germany as well.

1. Yes you need to take it to a Ford Dealership for warranty work. In Germany that means you will deal with a german mechanic. In America that means you will deal with an American mechanic etc. Warranty work cannot be done by you. I deal with the same warranty you talk about daily.
2. Monthly inspection is a bunch of bull. That's insane if we required monthly inspections to keep the warranty valid we'd never sell any.
Example if you put on remote start system and your engine blows. Well that wouldn't void your warranty
Example if you remove the rev limiter on your vehicle and the computer shows you enjoy driving around at 10k RPM (or whatever an ST engine can do) for days and days then that could void the warranty

I asked for your name/rank so I can review your order cause if your sales agent is really telling you this stuff he needs to be retrained.

Wow, that almost sounds like a scam.

rambleon84 You should start budgeting for a tune, I hear they really wake the car up. Not to mention you will get to properly test the car on an amazing highway bet you could get to Nuremberg in like two hours or so

NotAnSES Update: The car has been ordered from the dealership! They are going to make it for me while I'm deployed. It should be ready to pick up a little bit before I get home. Looks like my wife will be driving it for a few weeks! I got the blue ST1. I'm very excited. I have wanted one of these since I had my 06 ST. I've never had a turbo charged vehicle either.

I have a few more years in Germany. Woohoo! I'm getting a pretty good deal at the dealer on base. Tax-free since I'm overseas, and military discounts and what not. I don't blame you for not starting your wife out on the ST. My wife knows how to drive stick, and it makes me nervous with her driving it soon haha
