I only have the 6-speaker system, but I find it quite adequate. It's a really clean sounding system, but the bass won't blow you away, that's for sure. What bass there is is nicely defined, though. I occasionally long for a sub like I had in my previous car, and I'll probably cave on this when the weather is better and I can spend some time outside working on the car. I find the cabin quiet enough, even at highway cruise speeds, that I don't need to turn up my music too loud in order to be satisfied, which definitely lessens strain on my ears on long drives. I listen to a lot of metal, hardcore, and aggressive hip-hop, so it can be QUITE fatiguing. The Sync system with the 4-inch screen suits me quite well, too. It recognizes voice commands for album and song names that are basically complete jibberish. High On Fire's "De Vermis Mysteriis" album was recognized on my first try, for example.

I've seen a lot of people gripe about the quality of the Sony 10-speaker system. I've personally never heard it, though.

Deftmetal I didn't get the sony stereo or MFT. I don't miss having either. I might upgrade my stereo someday to better speakers with more power but not until something breaks

So, from the replies to the thread so far, I've determined that I'm not at all worried about the 5MT and any issues like what the 6AT suffers from.

My only real decision, it seems, is whether or not to get the MFT screen and Sony 10 speaker system.

Black stick I live in southern Ontario. Clutch is fine at 71,000 km. The ride is firm but comfortable. With winter tires the car slices through snow well and has always felt stable. Very little wheel spin when setting off on slippery surfaces. Engine revs are just over 3,000 at 120 km/hr and that's not too loud (my old Honda was pushing 4,000 at that speed. Refined little car - no rattles.

Deftmetal Car starts fine at -41 plus wind chill not plugged in two days in a row with less than 4 km driven in between. The car beats up quickly when driving less than a km to warm air at -15 with less than a minute idling. Seat heaters don't get warm unless sitting in the seat. I drive gravel roads and the noise level is good. Unless your really mean to your car I don't see how you could wear out a clutch that quickly

I'm really happy with mine. There were only 3 manuals in Canada for sale when I bought mine

For the heat up the heater is fairly good, and for rough roads it handles quite well,i drove gravel for 2000 km and after 10 washs to get the dust out. Check out metro.ford ive been treated very well by them.
My heated seats take a lot longer than 1 minute to heat up the seat base, especially when its near freezing, although it does eventually get hot enough, but it never hits that mythical 125F specified at the heater pad per the service manual.

miuzi05 In Hamilton, we've got some terrible crumbling roads, and I find my Focus rides quite nicely. I don't have any frills like heated seats and mirrors, but I am not bothered by the cold in the car. It heats up nicely. The engine and clutch/trans drive well in any temperature conditions I've seen so far. I'm sure your Albertan winters make my southern-Ontarian winters seem mild by comparison, though.

My only complaint for winter driving so far has been that, when I'm driving a fair distance in very cold conditions, my windows ice up on the inside. I've noticed it a couple of times now, and it's a pain in the butt. It doesn't seem to matter whether I run the defogger or not (I figured it might help reduce cabin humidity). All of the side windows, front and rear, ice up in mine. Like I said, though, it only happens on long drives (like after an hour or so), and I haven't noticed it at temperatures above -15C.

Johnny Sticceno Hey friend, I can't help you out with most of your questions because I haven't picked up my car yet. As a fellow Calgarian though I had to answer.

I went with a fully loaded Ti (minus park assist and with manual trans) for $25,500. On my test drive i was able to go over some pretty standard crappy Calgary roads and it felt smooth without too much noise. There are a couple other Calgary guys on here who will be able to help you out a little bit more.

As for the no manuals on the lot thing, yea. Calgarians don't love it. If you want a Ti head over to Northstar ford Calgary in Crowfoot they have about 12 on the lot right now and a couple are manual. I've found the most knowledgeable salesman I talked to was at Metro Ford downtown and there was a manual I drove there but I'm not sure really what they have on their lot. I went to the Ford dealer over by the South Ikea two days ago and they had 8 SEs and one was manual.

Also if none of them have a manual that you want and you have the time they're all willing to do a factory order. That's why I ordered mine, I didn't want to settle and they didn't have a manual with what I wanted. Just an idea. Hope some of the other Calgary guys can answer your questions since I'd like to hear the answers too!

cobie56 until i got my current focus i've always driven a standard and neve, ever had to replace or repair the clutch unit during the life of any car. I should also say that by 100K i always replaced the vehicle...
