Close up. This is after I cut it and rounded off using bench grinder.

Just another picture.

This was pretty easy to do.
I used the 12x1.25 die of a tap and die set.
I removed the shifter rod from its base and locked it down in a bench vice.
I threaded the 12x1.25 onto the current threads all the way down till it stopped. [I did this so that I was sure the threading was correct.]
I then used some lubricant to spray above die to let it spread and drip down the rode as I used a crescent wrench to spin that die.
Spun it round and round till I was satisfied with how far I went.
Spinning this die around was really really easy.
Only thing I have to say that was off from the original threads is that the new ones were more pronounced (sharper.)

If the 2007s have the reverse lockout, where you need to lift the plastic guy to get into reverse, you'll have to either find a knob that is compatible with that feature or delete the reverse lockout by removing the mechanisms.
They do not, just the plastic part that looks like it might be there.

Mile30 I switched to a STS yeeeeeears ago, the new setup eliminated that infernal lockout...

02ztsian Try threading a stock lug nut on to it as they are also 12x1.5.
When I made a short shifter I bought one from House of Tools (now defunct sadly).
If you are married to the Blox Knob then re-thread your shifter to fit.
Stop by Princess Auto and pick this up for $19.99

It is M12x1.25. IIRC Subaru knobs and 2005+ Mustang knobs should use the same thread pattern.
