unhappy
rust issue

i am curious, am i being unreasonable. i own a 2011 ford focus with just under 75000 km's on it. recently took it to the local dealer because the check engine light was on. it was caused by a faulty seal in the fuel filler cap because of rust around the filler neck. the charge for cleaning this and fixing the seal was with tax $112.00 not a really big deal, however, my issue with ford of canada is should i really have to pay anything when it comes to rust on a 2 year old vehicle. the response was that it has passed the kilometer warranty period, since when is rust based on km's driven as opposed to time in the weather conditions. this does not make common sense to me. it seems that ford of canada is more concerned with the words to the warranty than the spirit of a quality being job 1 with all the rust inhibitors that companies used i find it hard to understand why i am responsible for this repair. again am i being unreasonable.
