freemind Take a breath everyone.

I've been solely a SQ for 25 yrs. SPL before that.

Maybe its just me but I would have to see it to believe it. I'm not saying kicker can't get down, I know it can. I just personally don't believe things without some sort of proof. When it comes to numbers I only look at sealed up on the dash or at the headrest scores. No one listens to music by their feet or with a door open.

I'm personally waiting f for the new Rockford stuff that is to be shipped during and after CES this year.
T2s1-16
2500rms
5000 peak
Single voice coil 1 & 2 ohm versions available
Also available in a 13"

2 different places are demoing and testing them for Rockford. McCain mobile audio and low note garage. Both of them have 2 16" on 2 2500.1 doing insane hair tricks. They are the real deal with a shipping weight of 100 lbs, sub itself is said to be at about 88-90 lbs
They also have a w while new line. T3 series, don't know what all they have coming for those but they do have a 19" sub with a neo motor and 5" voice coil. Don't know the rms rating but it has 70mm x max peak to peak 35mm one way. They are calling it their first super woofer.

One of the 16" has a future in my hatch with a 2500.1bdcp.

True, except L7s and my solo xs. Matter of fact, my solo xs SOMETIMES stomp sundowns, incriminators, dd, aq, sound qubed, you name it. Of course, there are some hard core guys that can cream me when they have WAY more power than me, but high end kicker stuff works well. One show a guy destroyed me with 2 fi 18s and 5,500W in a walled oldsmobile lol. He did like a 156.
But watch out for L7s and solo xs they SOMETIMES can kill other people with very high end brand stuff all at shows. I see it all the time. Never under estimate an l7 lol. I saw a guy do a 165 with 1 L7 12 in an extreme vehicle, I shit you not. I personally just beat a guy at the last contest that had a pair of sundown 18s in a walled kia with about 300 sq in. of port. He had 4 batts and about 5k. I have no batts, no wall, no actual box, only 1 0/1 running from my batt to the back. I got him by almost 1.5dB. ;) My rig plays the full sub spectrum very very well too, from 65hz down to 20s, great for any music, even slowed down stuff.
Also the only 4 12s walled daily driver car thats in the 160s in the whole iasca or usaci circuit is a guy using 4 solox 12s.

Another guy in usaci does 150.2 with 2 cvr 12s and 322 Watts! I guess my point is, you can get killer output from kicker's higher end stuff if you are good at car audio. Im definitely not saying kicker is 'awesome' or anything, just be careful to think you'll easily win against a guy who's good at car audio who has some kicker shtuff.

But otherwise, I'm sure we would agree on most all brands. You are obviously into car audio as myself, so I know you know what good sht is. I agree with your statement I quoted too :p When I'm finally bored of playin with these solos, I'm gonna go with Tantric.

Just wanted to say watch out for muhfuggers with kicker! Lololol

There's a BOAT LOAD of car audio companies, but you all know as well as i do, majority of these people have never heard of a lot of those names. This list was meant for people that really didn't have any knowledge at car audio. I wouldn't recommend higher SQ and Competition brands to someone who just wants to get started on car audio. It might be a hobby they really are'nt into in the end. Best to work your way up from the bottom to the top in my opinion . I mean ive went to a very low end, Bazooka amp and a single 12" Pioneer woofer and i even thought that was amazing, and i slowly learned as i got older that there are much bigger and better things out there. Now i have 2 Rockford Fosgate t-2500 powering two audioque 18s....and im still not satisfied. ;]
Post a pic of your rig in the other thread about boxes! :)

Because boss and pyle have always been entry level. Ask anyone hardcore in car audio for more than a decade. They will confirm. Pyle nor boss has ever been anything but for beginners that don't care or know anything about car audio. Even when Pyle was 'popular' in the early 90s they were never in competition with the big names.

Uuuuuhhhh bro, I've been in car audio since it became a thing in the 80s. Pyramid and legacy are pure and literal garbage. If you metered that pryamid amp that "you'd put against" any amp it would meter about 20% of the power it tells you it has. Sorry, just didn't want anyone believing what you are saying about those two specific brands. No offense.
If you have a pyramid or legacy amp that say SAYS on it 1000W. Measure it with meters. You will find that your "1000W" pyramid makes about 140W before it goes to 1% thd which is basically pure distortion to the human ear. Not sure where you got your info about those brands, but they told you wrong brotha, pyramid and legacy have always been garbage. There's never been an era of time in car audio where they weren't.

alaskanzx5 Time alignment is all about sound imaging. The biggest part of sq is imaging.
12-22-2014 12:31 AM
freemind ^Things like such and time alignment makes a system great.
12-21-2014 11:38 PM
alaskanzx5 It takes a lot more then those testing tools you mentioned. Those are just the start.
That can get you a clean install and distortion free.

You still have to account for dampening factor, imagine, and tons of time on an rta to get a truly flat bandwidth.

It takes years of doing it to actually achieve sound quality. Sq is not something the human ear can even determine. It takes the right testing tools to determine that.

An amp is essentially a gain block. The quality of the parts and design of said gain block is very important. There are distinct differences between Class, A, A/B, D, H, T, etc.

PPI made an amp for Pyramid many, many years ago. PPI also made my old beloved MTX Terminator MTA 225. Zed Audio made/designed many good budget brand amps. Again that was many years ago. I love REAL old school amps, not so called Old School amps that are 5 yrs old.

I agree that everything is in the install. But, unless you know how to use a DDM, Test CD and a Handheld or, benchtop oscilloscope, I doubt that your system sounds all that great. More than likely it's okay.
