_fifth_ I have 20% and have been pulled over a handful of times for other things like bulbs being out and they have never once said anything about my tint. Our laws here are 35% and when I talked to the dude who tinted my windows he said that one way for them to tell is if they hold up your ID on the inside and they can't tell what it all says they will write you a ticket. I'm not really all that sure but they've never done that to me.

I think you'll be fine unless the cop is stupid bored and needs something to mess with you with.

crazy_urn I can't way in on the legal issue, since my tint is at the legal limit...

But I have had my tint on for nearly 10 years. The back window is badly bubbled but the sides have no bubbling. I use my defroster almost daily in the winter. Don't know if that is the cause or if it is just coincidence.

toxic_waste in the uk some traffic cops have tint meters to check your windows, ive got 20% all round, but never had any issues with the police, although a friend of mine had to remove his front tints or face getting fined

GreySkorpion I have had 20% on all my cars for over 10 years. Never been pulled over for it, never been questioned after being pulled over. If it is at night, roll down all your windows, turn on the dome light and the officer won't think twice about tint. Also, during the day, do the same, roll down all the windows showing you have nothing to hide if you are pulled over. Oh yeah, one more ting, drive like an adult and not a 18 year old azzhat and you will be fine.

bringler26 I have 35% on my Subaru which is legal here. My focus has 20% in the rear and 35% on the two windows. I really like that look.

josephd I had 35% done on my Focus last year. Have not had any problems being pulled over. 35% is not that dark, so you should be fine.

antoniakmm Thank you all for your information, especially whimsicalpouch2.. I needed a little bit of justification for this! I'm sure I won't have a problem, as my brother has driven a car with 20% tint for about a decade now. Thanks!

whimsicalpouch2 tint is worth the risk of looking good against a ticket. chances are youre not going to get pulled over. never had a problem, same with alot of others. i say go for it

Svizzara I don't think you'd get pulled over for JUST tint - maybe they'd give you a hard time about it as a sort of "by the way" thing if you were pulled over for something else more severe, like speeding or some other moving violation. In my province, you're not supposed to have tint on the front windows, but I do and have never gotten in trouble for it. It is only 35% though. As for the rear windscreen, I left it alone because I had the same concerns as you.

1rkRAGE I wish I didn't go to Chicago so often. I'd like to get tint on mine but they ticket $200 there for having tint on front windows.

I think 35% is good enough imo. Could be a plus for night time driving too.
