elsolo Go to a machine shop and use a real spring compressor that holds the valve like a big C-clamp from the backside of the head.

The toolbox type spring compressors (I have a couple) are a big pain to use because the valve can still move in the guide instead of being locked down.

I can assemble a whole head in the time it takes to do one valve spring with a hobby-quality valve spring tool.

Trick to installing valve retainer clips

On a dohc zetec head, when doing a valve job and reseating your valves. Is there a trick to making it easier to reinstalling the valve retainer clips. Those stupid little 2 bushings i fought for hours to just get a couple put back on. Even with a valve spring compressor. No matter how i tried it or no matter what i thought of they just did not want to seat easily. they would always fall the wrong way or move once you tried to release the spring. So you guys that rebuild heads alot whats the trick?
