I've been tempted to get a regular set of S / SE headlights to bake and repaint. Afraid of breaking mounting tabs / plastic, etc while doing it.

I saw a few SES bumpers for sale from local junkyards ... but they were all wrecked and pretty expensive!

I do have a rear swaybar for my car ... once I can get it to my fabricator, I'm going to be hooking it up!
i have a guide on a good method for painting your grill black... all your would do is use the colour you want instead of black. but all steps are the same

TMDJ5 Theres a really good How To on baking the headlights. Although I think the suggested heat is a little too much, it wasn't as hard as I thought. I'd say just buy the black ones. Both of my headlights seemed to have melted. At some angles they look they have that oil and water-greenish-purpleish haze. Also the reflector on the outside warped a decent amount. Again its one of those things you only really notice if youre looking for it, but as the owner of the car, It's all I can see.

I went to the local Paint and body supply shop and had them mix me a rattle can of sterling gray. No it is not the crappy premade cans you buy at autozone or advance auto.

Damn, that is expensive! It would be $128.80 to do the handles

I am pretty skilled when it comes to painting and I think I could do a good job with the stock handles but I think I am going to leave them as is for now.

Thanks for the insight tho.

If you want to start piecing the SES parts together you could start here.

Haha you and every other se or s driver here on the forum. You see that is what I did with my tails and if I didn't go with the halo headlights that would have been my other choice. As for the grill I body matched mine because not many people do it and it really gives a much sleeker look(=

Sure if you use nice paint it would probably be similar (cost wise) to buying the primed ones from Ford but hey, might work.

Crice, where did you buy the primed ones from ford?

I didn't mind that mine looked a bit dull until I saw how nice the gloss black looks.
I would not suggest the long process of using the current ones just to "chance" it of turning out well, when you know for a fact that the ones primed from ford will turn out perfect.

I got mine from Tousley Ford Parts from Steve as that is where I get all of my oem parts, best prices around.

Like I stated in a previous post, It is pricey to do it the right way but the quality of doing it right shows. If you want a cheaper route then do like I did when mine were gloss black. Order the chrome handle covers on ebay for $30-40 then sand them down and paint them and stick them on over your current handles. You could only tell if you really looked but I wanted to do the whole thing the right way so I took those off and went the way I have explained above.

As keen to detail as you were about your pillar covers, I would suggest doing it the right way even though it is pricier, otherwise you will spend money doing it the cheap way that could have gone towards the right way.
