|Mile30||The professionals have reverse-threaded sockets designed specifically to "bite" into the head of the bolts as you carefully reverse them out. Extractors, they call 'em. It'll remove them, but will definitely kill the bolts in the process.|

|fingersuk||Im thinking I might be best to get the professional's do it for me so if it breaks at least it's at a garage. The housing is plastic however where the bolts go in there's a metal sleeve I think it's sized to these, got a funny feeling it's the hard option!|

|cpalz||Oh boy, that is never good. I am sure there are many Ideas out there, but first I would try spraying them with penetrating oil, such as pb blaster, kroil, etc. Just not wd40. then GENTLY rocking them side to side,(towards loose, then tight) to see if they will loosen. Since it is a plastic housing, if that did not work, then I would try removing everything you can get out of the housing, and break the rest of it out with a chisel. Being careful not to ding the sealing surface. Once as much of the housing is gone, hopefully you are just left with the bolts. Then you can get penetrant in close where the threads are, or even apply a little heat to help break them loose. If one does break off, then it looks like it will most likely have to be drilled out and tapped. Good luck!!|

Right flushed everything the weekend that went well, however ended up having to put it back together.
All three thermostat housing bolts are ceised up completly meaning I cant get them off. Any ideas how to get them off with sheering off the bolts?

|cpalz||Sure, it would do no harm at all to flush with the old components on. Then you won't be sending crud through the new parts.|

|fingersuk||Sorry forgot to say that the valve cover gasket was changed roughly 6 months ago the mess is probably from that as it was pressure washed a few weeks before the change etc.|

Would you do the flush with the old components on that's the only question left really for me.

|cpalz||Looks to me you have a valve cover gasket leaking on to your thermostat housing, and then your thermostat housing is also leaking. Unless I see the picture wrong. Common on these. I would replace both. as to the flush, I really don't have an opinion either way, I have not used either. I believe last time I did one I used prestone. Good luck!|

Still not had chance to look at this. In the recent snow thermostat has being going up to into danger red (been slowing down to counter the measure).
Checked this morning not much coolant certain not at the correct min level. Also looked by the thermostat for the first time, I think what i can see bear in mind im not a mechcanic is leaking coolant which confirms my problem? Can someone check this is correct before I order the parts?
