Russo2 The only turbo I'm after is on top of a powerstroke. Sorry guys, but I'm a truck person.

amc49 Then you'd best stay away from the Escort websites too, they are as contagious as this one is. They'll be talking you into turbos in five minutes........

Russo2 Eh it's a lot of miles, but I bought my truck with 241k and have driven it everyday since for another 25k. Built ford tough no doubt.
No offense to the focus guys, but an escort is better for me right now. One simple reason. Modification. I have no urge to mod an escort. A focus.. I had plans already. That's not good when I plan on rebuilding my f150 and getting another f350 for work.

whynotthinkwhynot It's a Zetec, so not an SPI, so no issues. If it's a manual, then it's the same transmission as the Focus uses. I've never owned one personally, but I don't think that those are bad cars. I don't know if it has the problems associated with early Focis or not- like the 2000 MY TPS and TB.

OH, that is a lot of miles for anything though.

Russo2 Yessir. High miles, but very well taken care of and laundry list of new parts.
I know it's not a focus, but I don't know anyone else that knows these cars and engines that well.

Russo2 Game changer. That blue hatch is rusted out.
Would yall be afraid of a zetec excort with 222k? It's clean looking and southern car. Might drive it and talk him down.

Russo2 Here's how I look at it. It's exactly what I want, perfect color (even though I like red most first gen red focuses look like poo) zetec five speed etc etc, cheap and if the door is either A rusted or B dented (I'm assuming rusted) I can pick up a door for less than a hundo and have it painted just as cheap. It may need some work, but I'm cool with that, I bought my truck needing a lot more than just a sway bar.
I will ask about the timing belt and clutch, hopefully at least the timing belt has been done recently. I hate knowing I'm never going to find anything as reliable as the inline six in my truck.

And I don't know why cars rot so bad here. I think it's because PennDot is so fricking lazy they salt the crap out of the roads and don't plow. This new liquid brine stuff has made it so much worse.

sailor Dk. Blue, 5-spd.,Zetec, even has the factory fog lights.....

I hate PA, it's ONLY one state south, but cars DON'T rot away as fast as up here in N.Y.!

Pictures ALWAYS seem to look good, but that one looks worth a drive to ck. out & purchase if it looks as good in person....

If it passes a "test drive" it'll make it home OK (as much as you can trust ANYTHING...).

Hope it works out for you!

(Gad, I'd be tempted to pick up ANOTHER Focus just to play with if I found one like that cheap....)

Russo2 Dual mass?! Why does Ford still use that crap!?
But doing the clutch and timing belt doesn't bother me as long as I make it home, but it's 238 miles. Not interference helps though, still sucks if it did let loose.
This one is 4 hours away and seems decent so far, but I'm afraid of something going wrong on the return trip.
