My 01 SE story
My 01 Se started out as a stock single overhead cam sedan. I was in need of a cheep car to daily drive. I was driving by a car lot and saw this little silver car that had 1200 on the windshield and I turned around and pulled in. The car looked like it was in great shape from the road and I though that's only 1200 bucks! When I got up on it I noticed that the driver fender was smashed and the driver headlight was broke. The salesman, who I knew from purchasing 3 other vehicles from this lot came over. He said the guy hit a deer. Other than that it was in great shape. No rust. I took it for a drive and it ran and drove perfect. I came back and made an offer of 800 and he said no. I then said 900 and im leaving. He said ok. I then said I needed to take it to a garage first and left with the car to a garage that could check it out. They lifted the car and it was in great shape and aside from the fender and headlight, there was nothing wrong. I called my wife and said we just bought a 01 Ford Focus. After getting the car I went to the junk yard and found a silver focus with a perfect fender and headlight. They cost me 125 bucks and a couple hours to put on. The paint was a perfect match. Now the car looked good again. The car had 157,000 miles on it but it ran great for 4 months. Then like all SOHC the valve seat dropped one day. The car sat for 6 months in my drive way while I did my research. That is how I found FF.
After the research I decided to do the SOHC to DOHC conversion and that is how it all began. I have posted a complete write up on FF to do the conversion from everything you need to what to watch out for.
