gondorian You ask the seller to measure it with a ruler or take a picture with a coin stuck in the tread. (This is assuming you aren't in the same location as the tire)

aemi07 got it.

One more question:

How do I know how much thread is left on the tires? I am going to look for some used winter tires.

for your current wheels you could use 205/50-16 or 205/55-16 tires (the latter being more common)

or you can buy 15" wheels with the 195/60-15 or 185/65-15 tires which are generally cheaper than the 16"

if you put the car into the tirerack website, it generally tells you what size tires will fit.

focusonthefocus19 If I were you I'd just buy snow tires the same size as you're running now. It would solve all the confusion, lol. This stuff always confuses me, so that's what I always used to do.

dodgeguy Looks like your getting confused. Lets keep this simple... 205/50/16 equals width/heigth/diameter of the tire. 195/60/15 if for a 15" wheel. your 205/50/16 tires are for 16" wheels. your car could have come with 15" or 16" wheels.

The stock size on the car would be one of two sizes. Either a 195/60/15 or 205/50/16. The first size was mounted on all cars with steel wheels and some with 15" alloys. The second size was for all the 16" alloy equipped cars.

I believe the ZX4 SE's all came with the 195/60/15.

The crucial thing here is we really need to know exactly what the wheel size you have is. Then we can recommend the correct size. Websites don't even list any tires in the 205/50/14 size. It would be a very strange size.

My bad. The correct size is 205/50/16 of the tires I have on the car now (all 4 tires).

On the driver door it says that the tires should be 195/60/15.

Would winter tire size 195/60/15 fit on the rims that I have now (205/50/60 tire size now)? I am guessing there is no problem to put 205/50/16 winter tires on the car I find cheaper than 195... right?

Also, How do I know how much thread is left on the tires? I am planning to buy used winter tires.

PS the car in question is a used car bought from a dealer a few months ago.

focusonthefocus19 Personally I would go with the 205's. After all the times I drove in the snow in Dallas, and in Colorado I had better luck with wider tires for some reason. 195's are good in snow for most people because you can just cut right though the snow, and ice.

You cannot run 14 inch wheels with a R15 tire. You either can run the same size you have now for the winter tires, or a 195. Personally a 185 wouldn't fit, but correct me if I'm wrong. Hope this helps man.
