elsolo You want the specific pressure hose from Ford or equivalent. Check I remember a thread not too long ago here where a member made a braided stainless power steering hose, it should have worked fine but there was no steering assist at low speed.

The pressure switch is on that hose, but a separate part number.
There is also an O-ring you'll need for the fitting end.

The supply hose could go generic, but with all the weird bends in the hose, I would go Ford or OEM equivalent. That hose has no pressure, just a gravity drain to the pump inlet.

After looking at diagrams I have concluded the leak is either coming from the fluid supply hose or the pressure switch. I'll watch it some more and pin point where it's coming out at. I'm having trouble find this section of the hose listed for sale anywhere. Do people just buy generic hoses with similar shape, or should I get this at the stealership?

I had a longer trip last night so I was able to tell the belt was indeed slipping and causing the dimming of the power. After I get the power steering leak fixed I'll look into changing the belt.

Happened at 3K while going down the highway at 70mph. I was wondering if it might be the belt slipping because of the power steering fluid leaking onto it.

elsolo Sounds like two issues there.
Replace the leaking hose assembly.

Regarding the dimming lights, does it happen only at idle?
Does the idle speed seem a bit low when it happens?
Does it primarily happen while turning the wheel at idle speed?

ZXthrizzle05 Its most likely coming from the hose fittings that goes into the pump itself.. mine did this and instead of getting a replacement line I just made a custom line that runs from the hard line by the transmission and routed it underneath the radiator. Being boosted the last thing I wanted was hot ps fluid getting cycled through the rack and burning that up. It looks to me you need a replacement line. U can buy a replacement little metal fitting but its hydraulicly attached. The easiest way is to just replace the whole line assembly like I did or from the rack to the pump

Power Steering Issues

I first noticed a puddle under my car near the front passenger side of the engine. The leak looks like it is coming from under the hose that is covered by a heat shield.

The dash lights are also starting to dim. Iíve never had to deal with powering steering issues before. In the past, lights dimming meant there was an issue with the alternator.

Any suggestions?
