sleepyboy Pretty much, but it also depends on what the header is made of. I'm sure if it was made of some crappy steel it probably would have rusted much worse or even through the header. Headers made today are usual made of stainless steel, where headers back in the day were made of just steel and some not even very thick. This is where most the fear or wrapping headers come from I think.

You gotta watch with heat wraps, moisture can collect if not wrapped up properly causing the header to corrode over time. Since you live in Vegas its not a problem for you haha.

crice8 I didn't even buy the $80 o2 sensor extender that Fswerks suggest to buy with it. It wasn't needed!
01-17-2013 09:06 PM
sleepyboy Well don't let it touch the header lol, my O2 sensor wire is hanging a few inches away from my non-coated SVT header and it hasn't had any problems.

miscreant So I shouldn't fry the O2 sensor wires since it's ceramic coated. Thinking I might buy some heat shield material (not tape) and put it against the firewall and covering the O2 sensor, to help direct the heat downwards, or is there no reason and I should just trust in the ceramic coating?

unnecessary.. this is why it is ceramic coated. By wrapping a ceramic coated header in wrap it actually is worse than better because the ceramic cannot preform as it was meant to
