Nope, SFE was Super Fuel Economy according to ford, but its basically just an SE with steel wheels, special hub caps, low rolling resistance tires, rear disk brakes to reduce brake system drag from the drums, and a small decklid spoiler. All of which allegedly amounts to a 2 mpg increase in rated highway fuel economy.

The SFE package is an SE, it is not technically its own model despite wearing the SFE badge instead of the SE one.

The SFE is a sub model of the Focus SE sedan with the DCT, 16" steel wheels with aero hubcaps, low rolling resistance tires, four wheel disk brakes, and a spoiler.

Technically its an options package rather than a model, but it gets its own Eco badging (SFE instead of SE SFE).

Gonna keep trying cause the dealer is useless for something like this - went to the dealer several times and say they can't replicate. They won't let me take them to a proper area where I can replicate. Like I said, useless so I'll do it myself.
Fwiw take a look at the coolant recovery bottle. Others have reported it rattles. Mine did too, but a cardboard shim solved the problem. May be an unlikely source, but it's in the general area...

SilverPony2001 I have a 2013 SE and I can feel the shutters with my hand, but I have never seen them close. I'm in the Chicago area so it's been pretty cold here.

vegachicago I have the shutters. They open and close like a venetian blind. I don't remember my package but it sure did include them.

You might have the same rattle as me.

Some random Job 1 2012 Focus cars had the active grille shutter system that were not SFE models, it seemed to be more prevelent in cold weather or california emissions states prior to Job 2.

All Job 2 2012 Focus models and all Job 1 2013 Focus models were supposed to be built with the kysor shutter system.

I doubt that it's making that rattling noise though.

For reference Job 1 2012 was from late 2010 (serial production for retail around March 2011) through 3/4/12. Job 2 builds started 3/5/12 but were not really fully job 2 builds (i.e. many were missing the four way head restraints until around the week of 4/10/12) through 7/22/12 which was the end of 2012 production. Job 1 for 2013 started 7/23/12 and is still currently going on.
