Video from the final regional event of the year. I was pretty pleased with my fastest time.

I'm not here quite often, but will surely get some time to share over the winter. Our season ended last Sunday here in Quebec. After moving from STF to FSP with that Torsen and some 15" Rivals this year, my expectations weren't as high after an almost perfect 2012 season in STF... We call that class "ST Facile" locally, translating to "Easy ST". With the few mods, the car has been a real blast all year long, fun factor has gone through the roof with that extra grip (also went from -2.4 to -3.2+ deg front camber), and it proved again to be VERY competitive. Competition is strong with those Mini's, Miata's, MR-S, but the SVT still gets to play with them without needing such a softer index.
After a first event where I only got 2 runs before hitting a guard rail with ABS deciding to kill my braking (too much lateral weight transfer while braking, I learned since), I had to play some catchup. I was back in the race after 2 of our total 6 events (4 best of 6 are kept). That FSP index (we apply .98 over it with road tires in our local clubs) was more friendly than I thought, and I managed to get the class win in 3 out of 6 events, most of the time being within 1.5 sec of best raw time in SP (JCW on Hoosiers).
Our last event sunday was on a very long and open course, where the SVT can shine at the top of its 2nd gear. That allowed me to finish the season with a really strong performance, with a 2nd SP raw time, .1 sec from 1st with a 1:37.2+1 (yes with a cone, that would have been insanely quick without it) while first (Toyota MR-S) had a 1:39.1. Needless to say I was first PAX in class and 3rd PAX overall between two STF cars.
In the end I get the SP local championship, and the SP provincial championship which was made of two events. That car has been strong and has surprised myself and many competitors in its 3 years autocrossing, I don't think I will be giving it away anytime soon. Now thinking about finding a JRSC to fix one of the last things it lacks... more torque down low. Pretty sure it can be a great SMF car locally... it won't be next year though.
Here are the results from the last event :
7 cars in the 1:39-1:40 secs in SP, really close with talented drivers. We all struggled getting clean runs this time. Played safe on the 6th for a clean one but let more time on the table that I thought I would...

I just raced last Sunday in the rain in the STF Focus and took First place overall PAX. This was a seal coated hill type of lot with everything for the most part off camber. So when you add in the rain its like racing on ice. I ran my Bridgestone RE11's with 3/32nds of tread remaining. First run you can see the push and how stiff the car is as I take out a whole wall of cones and clip one more on the backside of the course.
So as you see the car pushes a lot, this was the first run and front struts were one full turn off of full stiff in front and same in rear, front tire psi 38 rear 36. Too stiff all around
My best run was my third and was good enough to take the top spot in class and on index out of 77. I was one full turn from full soft in front, half turn off full soft in rear, front tire psi 36 rear 33.
I got two more runs and changed tire psi only, going lower, but was 0.3 and 0.1 off my fastest run. I won the event overall with a 0.848 final lead over second place on index, 1.781 in class, so that was pretty cool, but watching the video shows I could have went faster.

Also this is my 2nd event with "sticky" tires (Kumho Ecsta XS) and they are amazing

Here are a few of my runs from earlier in the year. I don't like to run in the heat of summer so these are a couple months old. Once we get into september/october weather I'll be back out there.
I've got a few videos I still need to upload as well and will share them here.

Had a lot of fun yesterday with the Chicago Region SCCA at RT66. Drove a fast fun challenging course that left me wishing for 200 more horsepower. I ended up falling short of first by 0.012 due to my own boneheadedness. One more event for me before the National Championships and it is a rematch with the driver/car that just edged me out. Here is the in car video of my fastest run.

I have been busy but here is the most recent video, SCCA National Match Tour Milwaukee, I won First Place in STF, class of 3. this was Saturdays fastest run.
The Match Tour runs the same course all weekend and I went a little faster in the last Chance Qualifier on Sunday where I ended up ranked 12 in Bracket "C"
In the Match Tour EVO Super Shootout I lost in the first round to a CSP Miata with an excellent veteran driver, I could have beaten him if I matched my best run previously but I overdrove the first run to heat up the tires and then coned the second run at 2:05 so I lifted to 60% and coasted the course knowing I had already lost to the Miatas first run.
There are more videos including in car footage of same runs with better sound quality on my channel, but there may or may not be foul language in those videos. User beware. Enjoy!

A couple pictures of my last race with my 08 Coupe on June 2nd. I was fastest in STF both Saturday and Sunday with this car. And still current STF points leader. I've since traded it for a new ST, so I'll probably run in GS now. Hope to get some video of runs with the new car this weekend.
