TerryB I would have just sped up and passed the truck. No need to antagonize. In today's society, you never know what kind of whack job you're dealing with.

Slo86GT Trucker:

"Wow that guy is really riding this Focus' butt"

"Well, there he goes..."

"OH SHIT! LOLOLOLOLOL"

... Had there been more than a hair of distance between our bumpers, I would have proceeded on my way and gotten in front of the truck, but when someone in a hurry tries to impart their will on me via intimidation, I have no issues resisting to the point of forceful disobedience. Yes, I am immature for it, but who am I hurting? This dude hurt himself for getting all in a tizzy, then not watching the road. Calm down, drive like a human, and others around you will as well.

Huh? Which is why he should have sped up and finished the pass, not slow down and get back behind the truck.

Anyway, to be fair to the OP about many of us piling on him: this is what happens sometimes when testosterone starts raging when faced with some ass-hat on the road. I've done PLENTY of stupid and regrettable shizznit on the road due to someone antagonizing me, and have been fortunate that no one has been killed or hurt, nor property damaged.

The responses of BOTH of you in the incident were, unfortunately, completely understandable and not at all atypical.

(Meanwhile, I wonder what the trucker thought...)

I do what any normal driver would do. I turn off my cruise and coast down a few mph. He gets closer, so I tap my brake lightly just to turn on the lights, not affecting speed, but warning the guy that he's playing a very very bad game.
ummm, no normal driver would purposely brake when someone is coming fast up behind you. thats stupid, you could be at fault for potentially causing an accident. a normal driver would have just passed the truck and moved on and let the car go by.

swansong None of it is as bad as the guy who does the speed limit in the left lane, and never moves...

(I also can't stand that recent breed of morons who signal to switch lanes and then take FOREVER to execute the maneuver, thereby blocking two lanes simultaneously - what's WITH that shite?)

UMADBRO?
Why would I be mad?

You were passing a truck.
You saw someone screaming up behind you.
Instead of continuing at your current speed or even speeding up, you slowed down.
You antagonized him, plain and simple.

Fortunately "CARma" as you call it, goes both ways. Enjoy that when it gets to you.

Driving and blocking the left hand lane like that causes an obstruction.
+1. It's called a passing lane, so do some passing and move back over. I generally drive slower than the average driver, and stick to the right lane. When I pass in traffic, I'll increase speed to match the speed that lane is going, within reason. I have a 'personal limit' I'll speed up to, but won't match the guys going 25 over. Those people get their due eventually.

I also taught my wife how to drive interstate roads, she never got to get out of 55 mph single lane roads til she met me lol. Proper lane discipline was the first lesson.
