Through the forums I had narrowed it down to
coil pack.... I did paymy local dealer to diagnose
and all that gained me was a loss of $160 to tell
me the same as this forum......so a new coil later
$190 Fomoco and shes firing full noise now 😊

Hey Sailor, didnt get the wheels, will look at new later on.
I have a problem though that I hope some of you technical experts can help me with .... bit of background on how the car is behaving now
105,000km, slight waterpump leak, nothing major, even so unmajor its not really worth worrying about at the moment, but we may need to swap out.
The car is surging, quite rough when you excelerate slightly heavier than average. Not flat to the floor but quicker than a slight speed increase through the gears. If I let it go slowly up through the gears, there is no surge. Happens in all gears. Fluids are all fine, oil, steer, clutch, radiator etc.
No mods on the car, did have the overheating problem a while back but the thermostat and housing was all replaced.
Could it be the timing belt is playing up ? No warning lights at all.
Any help would be great gang... cheers

They don't mention the offset to help, but if they fit a Fiesta they should be OK (not a RWD offset).
Post up in wheels & Tires to see if anyone recognizes them/has more info..
215/45-17 would work for a bit of stretch, they're almost too wide stock for the 7" wheels Ford used on the ST/SVT.
Convert from that for anything wider & lower to match the diameter.

Wifey cooked the LR on route to music lessons for the girls on the weekend, ouch!! it was a live thing over the phone..... "Why is the needle on Red baby" hahaha car chugged and chugged and made it home... Thermo fans were screaming...
So when I got home took a look after filling her up with water again.... yep... pouring out of the bottom of the thermostat housing... reckon I got a crack under there somewhere...
So thanks for the local Ford dealer, $200 later, I have a new Thermostat, seal and housing to put on tomorrow and then a fill of fresh coolant...
Any tips for the swap out ?

I had a play with some photoshop today and gave it a 40mm lowered suspension and some variety of rims for you to give your judgement on..... as I need help to decide what the future of the girl is....
I either go down the line of 17inch Rim and 45 Tyre or keep the 15inch Rim and 65 tyre....

Well to my discust, the K&N filter that arrived was the wrong size.... grrrr. So now I gotta go through the return process or sell it to someone here and get another.
So now I tackled the gear shifter return spring issue I was having. The shifter would not centre without manually positioning, no auto centre in neutral with the aid of the spring... so I opened her up and found this issue....
Removed the panel, gear knob and three quick tabs and the boot was off.
Undo the screws in orange and unclip the green arrow cover.
And my issue was not the spring, but the "Housing Assy Selector Dial" plastic moulded surround
Oz Ford Part # XS4R7D394 AA schematic number #7A213 retail at approx $78.00 AUD
Now the problem is the plastic barrel that sits in between the spring loop and the press arms of the spring had snapped straight off.... maybe some rough shifting through the twisties I thinks... hehe...

So about 5 x Car Wreckers later, ya think I could find a bloody manual focus as a wreck....nooooo all automatics hahah.... Oh well.... so I went to Ford and go a price and said to my self there must be another way... the last Euro Wrecker I went to suggested a Tech Screw to simply hold the spring arms back in place until I could find manual to pull apart from a wreck.
So off to the hardware store I went for a 14G 50mm tech screw, 3/8th drive and 4.5mm drill bit to pilot screw the plastic first so the tech screw did not snap the assembly.

Reassembly - with some added grease to quieten up this area and keep it safe.
Cover back on
Shifter in place.
Now this has kept the spring arms in place, can feel a slight grip from 2nd to 3rd as the spring loop hits the tech screw head, but this is far from inconvenient compared to the way we had to change prior to this mod. I will now be on the hunt for a wreck to find the part before I bite the bullet and get an OEM part.
