I love my iPhone 5, but it doesn't get along well with SYNC at all.
We've been having a lot of people come in with a lot of newer smart phones that are having trouble. Most of the iPhones have issues with sync. Smh

Lumia 920 - fail
The lumia 920 is hit and miss. Sometimes plays music over BT, sometime recognized as a USB device, sometimes not.

|lookin4trouble||My Blackberry Bold 9900 (work phone) syncs perfectly every single time - same with the 9800 before it. No worries. My GS2 had issues on GB, but since it was upgraded to ICS I've had no problems.|

Ok, I just figured it out for the Nokia Lumia 920. I feel a little stupid but better now.
Disconnected the BT connection. Paired from the car to the 920. After doing this, the messaging button on the MFT screen will still tell you this phone does not support this feature. Ignore it - just have someone send a text. The MFT will announce the message - either the number sending the text or the contact name. It gives the options to reply, call or you're done. Now I'm good to go - I can now answer or at least know what the message is without needing to stop and get the phone out of the console.
You cannot create a new text message - which is fine with me.
