A few people with the dropped valve seat have had luck replacing head and pistons, rods, etc. but most have had to do a full motor swap.

flyboyike At $400 you can't lose. Worse comes to worst, you can always part it out and easily make that money back and then some.

Kettenhund Absolutely... I wouldn't have to think twice about that one.

lildisco If you did put a new motor in it, you'd get better mpg's, mainly because you wouldn't be able to do anything with it, lol

lildisco If it has some 16's you could swap the wheels over. Stock 15's won't fit, but if you don't have the know-how to do an engine swap, i wouldn't bother. You may be able to find another spi motor, but your eventually going to have the same problem.

iminhell Huh?
Never heard of a spring breaking with anything other than extreme abuse. Not common by any means.

Worth buying a focus: valve spring broke.

Well a buddy has a 4 door 02-03 which I guess has the common problem with the valve spring breaking. Is it worth buying? He was gonna sell it for $400. New tires and such and in excellent condition.

Gonna go check it out in a bit. Want something else for a beater besides the SVT.
