whynotthinkwhynot It seems to me that Tire-Rack had some 215s. The Kumhos that come factory are junk, but the Ecsta 4x I had on mine were not junk. Those were just as good as the Conti Pro-Contact I put on there afterwards. Nowadays I'm running a summer tire from Firestone (Indy500 Oval)- I'll have to go look. I can't wait for those to wear out- very loud. The Contis were probably the most quiet, but the Ecstas were much cheaper and not as loud as these Firestones. The only beef I had with the Contis was that they didn't last as long as the Ecstas. IIRC, I got 40k out of the Ecstas, and only 30k out of the Contis.

All have been 215/45/17 run on Centerline Impulse wheels.

Sniper Focus Are you looking locally or on the internet? I just picked up a set of Hankook Ventus V4 ES H105 last month, I like them a lot so far. They're $112 from Discount Tire Direct; they had a $50 rebate, but I don't know if that's still going.

vermen1993 Have you looked at ha kook ventus v12 evos? They're under 125 a tire I believe and they come in 215. Besides, they're fantastic tires.

AceFrehley03 I'd like to see around $500 +/- a few bucks OTD, so $125 a wheel. It is not a sports car, it's a pitiful automatic and as such I don't need anything immensely fancy. Was mainly concerned with my lack of anything 215 to be found around here. 225's seem much more readily available.

vermen1993 What budget are you looking at (per wheel). I don't see there being a problem going from 215-225, its a minimal difference.

Replacing 215/45R17 with 225/45R17 - thoughts?

Hey all,

I am very, very overdue to replace the POS Kumho's on my '09 SES. I have the 17" wheels, for what it's worth.

Anyway, I've been having a rough time finding any form of affordable 215/45R17 tires. If I kick the width up to 225's, the world of possibilities opens up and they are actually a decent amount cheaper to boot.

So here's the info. Daily driver, live in Seattle (read: frequent rain) and I enjoy a spirited drive as much as the next guy. Has anybody had any experience on bumping the width up a hair? The car has always had an awful understeering habit and I feel like the 225's may help with that as well.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.
