Mile30 Bye-bye pics from tow day last week

Mile30 I got almost all the pics taken for the exhaust I had to make for this damn thing, but some of the welds are of the ugliest ever seen by human eyes and I don't need to hear about that bit!!!! (lol, kinda...)

Other than the booger welds I spit the last two cut together with, the whole thing doesn't look too terrible for a first attempt at 1) welding & 2) custom exhaust.

Mile30 "This is the last piece for a while. Swear it..."

I'm picking up a rear splitter from a certain internet-(in)famous mk1.5 that was just sold. That was the trick piece I needed to wrap up the rear valance cutout. Lemme dig into loading some pics I didn't have time for day-of.

I've been hearing about photo hosting site issues lately, not up on all the details.
My brother had a hiccup a long time ago that wiped his online stuff out; he's run his own ftp site to host all his stuff since... I was offered an invite to throw it all in there, but the idea of rebuilding all the thread's pictures is revolting. It's working today, anyhow. Another mid-build crisis averted. Time to concentrate again.

So, I'm trying to catch up but the big national is creeping ever faster. No rest for the weary, but I need to find a painter or the bawls to d.i.y. within the next week or so or I gotta rock last year's look and this year's excuses.

Mile30 I got this off a fellow fanatic up in Pennsylvania accidentally. I have been looking for a Stoffler rear valance for a few years having run across a familiar conundrum: got money-no part but if you are flatfooted the thing is right there! This time the site in Australia I found a while ago (that had it AND would ship here) was gone when I had the budget back on track.

I got a splitter from the Rieger from this gentleman and he also had this thing for sale. It was meant to be! I like most of the lines on the piece, but I have no desire to run dual tips on mine so the center bit was unnecessary for me. Learning the body repair chemicals to fix the rear the way I wanted has been pretty fun, possibly because I picked an easy project to start with!

The valance

I wanted to get the front fascia supported a little bit better, so I made some brackets with aluminum bar stock. New retainers in the fenders (Thanks, Internet!) and the aluminum holding more surface area. I'll really need to screw up for this to go awry.

These bastards took the better part of a week to get finished because the car is spread out at too many places. That, and I don't have a garage at my place I can put shop tools!
