Isn't the only difference between A/C and Max A/C the fact that it recirculates? lol.

skiboarder119 I turned my recirc on yesterday (it was on full auto - probably using heat since it was 36░). I looked down about 15-20 minutes later expecting it to have turned itself off, it was still on. I'll have to test it on a longer drive to see if it ever turns off. My build date was june 2012.

FrostedG On my SFE, I've noticed that I cannot enable recirc. at all when using the windshield defroster setting.

sprcoop Not possible with manual climate control. You can put A/C on with heat but not Max A/C as you have to move the dial off of that setting to get heat. Then punch the A/C button. When off of Max A/C the recirc function goes automatic/irritating.

Temperature and perhaps humidity sensors.

Recirculated air traps humidity inside the car and leads to fogged windows if the temp/humidity is right.

Some cars also use carbon monoxide or nitrogen oxide sensors to monitor interior air quality. I don't know if the Focus has one or not. In this case, you really do want that outside air when the sensor says so...

sprcoop This is the first car I have had that thinks it know better than I when recirc should be on. I don't like it. You need to have A/C on Max to keep it from going "fresh" and I have never found a way to keep it on recirc for heat. That's nuts but the way it was designed.

Just Tom Yes, I noticed this as well. Whenever I turn the A/C to AUTO, I have to manually reach down and hit the Recirc button. This is annoying, but my Lexus does the same thing. Crazy!

Except that was in reference to the 2012+ Focus. The 2011 could still be different.
