Yeah I had to fix the leaky valve cover on my zx3 lol. So the expected range is 60-80k? That makes me feel better. I halfheartedly looked but didn't see a range and I expected about 100k.

SVT's need a bit more attention than normal zetec's, though having both I like my SVT a bit more since it's just a nicer focus overall. The t-belt going on them is known that's why it's recommended to replace the at 60-80k mi, other than the normal zetec problems such as valve cover leaking over time, t-stat housing gasket leaking over time, and just a few other things that are common to all focus's it's not a bad car at all. Really though it's up to you, go check the SVT out for your self, you may just fall in love lol

I mean it seems like a no brainer, but when I KNOW my car is reliable, I'd hate to trade the reliability for some creature comforts

Zx3 to svt question
Hey guys, I'm relatively new on here, but I've had my 01 zx3 for a while. Currently I have a buddy I've known for awhile that's told me his brother ( who I don't know) is selling his svt, and it's right in my price range. I have mild performance plans for my zx3, including coilovers, bolt ins and perhaps cams. And I'd like to get somethin to stand out a bit more than the stock zx3. I really like the euro kit. But the main point is, I can pretty much straight sell my car, and with a little extra cash pick up this svt. My car is an 01 with 108000 miles, the svt is an 03 with 70,000 miles. There's the upgrade of power options, better interior, lower suspension, different styling, sunroof, hids, 6spd and the 40 extra hp, for basically selling my car and buying the svt outright. Plus the lower miles newer car, and it's infra red, where mine is the unnatractive silver. Now this seems like a no brainer, but the timing belt skipped time at some point, and bent some valves. My friends brother is actually a mechanic, so he got a new head, had it machined and rebuilt the head himself. Now I don't know at what mileage this happened, but it can't possibly have had more than 70k which it has now. Now that seems very low mileage to have the timing belt break. I'd like to not trade my good running car for a junk svt. Are there any reasonable causes for this to occur at low miles? Is it something I should be worried about? Anything I should watch for when I check it out soon? Thanks guys. Any advice would be appreciated.
