How do you know which version you have?

Which "version" of the DCT would they be referring to?

The current DCT firmware is quite different from that of the early production Focuses. Of course there have been some mechanical changes as well.

Do you have any quotes (from any major magazine) stating that the 2013 MY transmission is "junk"?

Making statements up out of the blue in order to disparage a source you don't care for doesn't do much to reinforce a person's credibility.

And yes, I do suppose that. I read CR, R&T, MT, and Automobile mag every single month, and they ALL say the same thing about MFT and the DCT

hotleadsingerguy The thing is, a lot of people are relating the negativity to just Consumer Reports...but in reality many of the major reviewers are saying that the DCT is junk. These are people that have reviewed more DCTs than anyone on this forum (including me...and I've driven 20-30), and have driven multiple dry-clutch DCTs, as well.

Don't you think some of those reviewers would praise the DCT if it acted like it should?

Can't speak for the rest of their readership, but I read all of the above. Frankly, the car stuff is the only CR material I read; their analysis of real appliances is about like watching paint dry.

For the record, sage advice has long been to read the enthusiast press and CR, in order to get a more balanced view.

It definitely is a gut feeling one might get after reading them for a while.

There is no delayed reboot type app for the regular sync system however, so that won't solve the issues with sync/myford.

It refused to do anything for a bit today and then when it finally started listening it said USB three times before shifting back to playing from USB.
