ccsick No, I'm asking why the remote start won't work. Never mind, it worked last night, must not have been holding my mouth right. Both fobs worked great. So, no issue after all. I did, however get new batteries just in case it's the battery.

Slicknick What if you just get in and put your foot on the brake? The car should take over and go to the ON position, then just put in gear and drive away.

ccsick having issues with my remote start, Ford factory installed not working all of a sudden, I put the start button twice, hold in the second time like they showed me and it won't start. Called the dealership where I got the car, they told me to try my other fob to see if it works there, if so, it's my current fob, and I should change the battery in the fob. If that doesn't work, I've lost the programming in the fob. Now, if that is the case, do they gouge me to reprogram the fob? And if so, how many times will that happen? I've only had the car a few months. SIGH

firebirdude I know this is an old thread, but as a professional remote start installer, I felt I should respond. Yes, you can add remote start to a push button start vehicle. Yes, you can trigger remote start with your factory keyfob (be aware you'll only have the range of your factory keyfob though). Yes, you can remote start, enter the vehicle, and drive off without restarting the car. That feature is called "Get In and Go". Here's an excerpt from the install guide from XpressKit.

entering their Push-to-Start (PTS) equipped vehicle, once it has been
remote started.
Typically, users would have to remote start their vehicle, then get inside and press
the vehicle start button to perform a takeover. There is therefore a physical action
required to drive away. With Get In and Go technology, you simply remote start the
vehicle, unlock the doors, get in and go... Nothing to do but put the gear in drive and
enjoy your vehicle.
This unique feature monitors a variety of parameters such as the key fob, vehicle
speed sensor and door sensor, in order to perform takeover securily.
Yes, they misspelled securely.lol Nobody can drive your car becuase the doors are locked. You walk up to the running car, press unlock, and then you have 45 seconds to get in, press the brake pedal, and put the car into gear (else the car will shut down). Extra connections must be made to enable the Get In and Go feature. So even if you have had the XpressKit Remote Start Ready system installed, the Get In and Go feature does not just automatically work.

TMLTITAN I start my TI with remote, get in push start button then touch break put in gear and go. I have never had to restart.

wacky @bvrplzr - the default time on the remote start is 10 minutes. you can increase it to 15 minutes from settings.

rczrider I didn't see a more recent thread about this, but it's possible I missed it...sorry if I did!

I just picked up a 2014 SE hatchback during the recent clearance and the only things I wish the car had that it doesn't is remote start and the proximity/parking sensors on the rear bumper.

I'm not opposed to having Ford install the remote start, but I figure there are some way cheaper aftermarket options that work just as well at this point...but I wanted to check in with you fine folks to see if that's the case.

So...thoughts? Any suggested brands or models? TIA!

bvrplzr I have had my 2013 focus titanium for about two weeks and the remote start works. my only problem is on the really cold nights (-10 to 0) it does not run long enough to defrost the windows all the way. If I could find out how to make it run a little longer that would be great.

WackyWRZ I have installed a few remote starts before, and they're no fun. The last one I did on the wife's LS, and it took me 2 days, as I properly soldered all the wiring. I opted for a Code Alarm model that had lock/unlock all on one keypad. What a wiring nightmare, especially the security bypass - and the hunched over/under the dash... Never ever will I install one again!

TheHumbleGeek Havent had one installed personally, tho a couple things a buddy told me to consider (he worked for a fairly large electronics company here in cowtown)...
1) There is alot of cutting and splicing into the harness to get them to work.
2) Their reliability may not be the best, because of that splicing and cutting.
3) Do you really want some minimum wage monkey screwing with a fairly important part of your car...

Personally, Id much rather a factory remote start (no matter how annoying) and keep my warranty, than go with something that functions right but very possibly could TKO my warranty.
Oh, and im actually looking at a Python 872LE for the mustang, and was my reaction to how much there is to connect to get it functioning...
