|RedRiderr13||figured this out, vacume leak in the valve cover thru one of the o rings surrounding the spark plugs. thankyou guys|

|RedRiderr13||yes, i can sit and idle and it acts normal, driving around town it has no issues, just freeway. collant is gold, it looks pretty full.|

|whynotthinkwhynot||UH, typically running hot on the highway is a sign of a stuck thermostat- regardless of what they told you. Check the fluid level though. Sometimes these new systems are harder to fill than you think, so make sure you have enough coolant in there. Make sure you put the right kind of coolant in there if you add some. You'll have either gold or red, unless they cheaped you out with green. Whatever it is, it's never right to use Dexcool, and match the color if you have to add some.|

A lean running engine wil run hot. On a newly installed engine, make sure all intake hoses/vacuum lines after the MAF are secure and buttoned down as a first step.
P0171 - System too Lean (Bank 1)
The Adaptive Fuel Strategy continuously monitors fuel delivery hardware. The test fails when the adaptive fuel tables reach a rich calibrated limit.

wierd problem, please help
hey guys, so i just got a new(used) engine put into the car, and now the car is running hot on the freeway. around town it has no issues, but on the freeway, if i hold the speed, it starts getting really hot, this happens at any speed over 45-50. the check engine light also came on today and has a code of p0171 any sugestions what could be causing this? also, the shop installed a new thermostat and water pump on the new engine. thanks again.
