elsolo Try pinching (or disconnecting and plugging) the booster's vacuum line to see what that feels like. Bad booster, the pedal usually feels firm but there is not much line pressure output from the master cylinder. Bad master cyl is more common, but has several ways they can 'feel' when bad.

Notorious0ne Ive come to the conclusion that i think the booster is bad. Cause i can pump the brakes up, then it instantly loses pressure. What do you think

Notorious0ne I've removed the rear drums to check for leaks, and properly adjusted them, Also gone through about two bottles of fluid, after doing the correct bleeding order. farthest from master to closest.

The only things left i could think of is 1 there's a leak that i have no idea where it is. 2 the brake booster but i figured if that went the peddle would be hard.

sldghmr My soft pedal problem was fluid, but it sounds like you've changed all yours already. Mine was green when it came out. I had changed pads & rotors, but still had soft pedal. Then gravity bled all four corners, put new fluid in, and was good to go.

sleepyboy Moved your thread so you could get some better help with your problem. Check the rear too, maybe it's got leaky wheel cylinders if it's got drum brakes?

elsolo Did you bleed all four corners, or just the fronts that you messed with?

Ford F150 Brakes

Hey guys,


So i have been working on my grandfathers 1997 ford f150 with a 4.6L V8 in it. He gave it to me and asked me to check out why the brakes were "soft" Well the front needed pads and rotors so i did that. The brakes were still soft so continued to bleed them. After that i replaced the master cylinder, brakes got better. Then the caliper on the passenger side decided to lock up. So i replaced both calipers on driver and passenger side bled them again. I had no peddle at all. So i figured maybe the master cylinder went bad, decided to replace it again. So after all of that i bled it again still no air. But now when the car is off the peddle will get harder after about 4 or 5 pumps. Then wait a second and it loses pressure again. I cannot find any leaks and at a complete loss.

So i have replaced both front calipers, rubber lines, master cylinder, and there is no more air coming out of the bleeder valves.


Any suggestions!?
