So long as the valves are shut, yes.
A 4cylinder is 180* opposed. If 1/3 is at TDC then 2/4 have to be at BDC.

Well, for one, you're not in the right section- I can help with that. Moved to General Technical Chat.
So, the car starts, then dies? Did you disconnect the IAC at all? Have you removed the IAC to clean it and make sure it's plunger can move- it's not caked up with black oily crud?

Cam timing is off.
Don't use a screwdriver.
Use air pressure to force #2/4 to BDC. You'll have to move the cams to close the valves but it works better than anything else I've found to find true TDC #1.

I got a 2000 focus dohc i goto replace timin belt i use flat bar on camshafts and i dont have the pin that goes in back block so i get #1 up to tdc lettin the piston push screw driver up an the keyway on crank is straight up put it together check make sure nothin is hittin by turnin it over by hand goto start it and car runs but have to give it gas it will not idle.....what did i do wrong?
